Cinedigm (NASDAQ: CIDM) revealed the poster and trailer for Status Media & Entertainment’s BEYOND THE LAW, an action film starring Steven Seagal (Under Siege), DMX (Romeo Must Die) and Johnny Messner (Silencer, Weaponized). On December 6, BEYOND THE LAW opens theatrically in 11 markets including Los Angeles, Atlanta, Houston and Toronto; and, day-and-date, it will also be available On Demand and Digital. The film reunites DMX, a best-selling rapper who had four consecutive albums debut Number 1 on The Billboard 200, and Seagal who starred together in the hit blockbuster Exit Wounds back in 2001.
It’s hard to tell the good guys from the bad guys in BEYOND THE LAW; a tale that blurs the lines between cop and criminal. After years of living a peaceful existence, a former cop (Messner) is thrown back into his old life with the murder of his son. The more he searches for answers the further he sinks into the cesspool of the city streets; where crime and corruption reign. Attempting to navigate him through this evolving landscape is a detective (DMX) determined to uncover the truth. But the further they venture into the underworld, the closer they find themselves to a mysterious criminal enforcer (Seagal).
BEYOND THE LAW, directed by James Cullen Bressack (Bethany, Blood Craft), takes a hard look at the consequences that can come from muddying the waters of right and wrong. Co-stars include Zack Ward (Transformers) and Chester Rushing (‘Stranger Things’). Bill Cobbs (Demolition Man) rounds out the performances with the rough yet compassion portrayal of the reformed cop’s friend and mentor.
BEYOND THE LAW was produced by Bressack, Timothy Woodward Jr., and Micah E. Brandt; with Gordon Woloson co-producing. Executive producers include Matthew Helderman, Luke Dylan Taylor, Joe Listhaus, Randy Charach, Kim DeLonghi and Patrick DePeters; with Kirk Shaw and Dan Grodnik co-executive producing.
Official Synopsis: Steven Seagal, DMX and Johnny Messner star in this action-packed thriller about one man’s quest for justice in a corrupt city. When a former detective learns of the murder of his estranged son, he ventures back to the darkened streets he once knew so well. Armed, dangerous and with nothing to lose, he must take on the ruthless local mob in his mission for revenge.
