HBO has renewed the critically acclaimed original drama series TRUE DETECTIVE for a fifth season. This season, ‘True Detective: Night Country,’ concluded February 18. Additionally, under a new multiyear overall deal with HBO, Issa López will create content exclusive to HBO and Max, including the next season of “True Detective.”

About “True Detective: Night Country”: When the long winter night falls in Ennis, Alaska, the eight men who operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanish without a trace. To solve the case, detectives Liz Danvers (Jodie Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Kali Reis) will have to confront the darkness they carry in themselves, and dig into the haunted truths that lie buried under the eternal ice. The season stars Jodie Foster, Kali Reis, Finn Bennett, Fiona Shaw, with Christopher Eccleston, Isabella Star LaBlanc, and John Hawkes. Guest stars include Anna Lambe, Aka Niviâna, and Joel D. Montgrand.
