MTV has announced that it will host the first-ever “REALITYCON” — a celebration of the genre that forever changed television and the stars, producers, creators and fans who’ve kept it at the forefront of culture for nearly three decades. The network that created modern reality TV with MTV’s Real World will convene luminaries from the genres’ biggest hits. The inaugural event will take place summer 2020 with a soft launch this fall. Additional global events will be announced soon.
“REALITYCON” will feature fan activations, performances, interviews, and roundtable discussions exploring the genre’s impact on society, representation of diversity in media, influence on entertainment, and much more. The event will feature some of the talent, producers and executives behind the biggest reality hits of all time, including The Real World, Survivor, The Bachelor, Jersey Shore, Big Brother, The Challenge, Duck Dynasty, Love & Hip Hop, Mob Wives, The Real Housewives, RuPaul’s Drag Race and The Hills.
The Reality TV genre continues to lead the way in showing audiences diversity across gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic backgrounds and perspectives. The genre has evolved from a social experiment to a massively influential pop art medium — you can map culture through its stories and define generations by their favorite series. From the first openly gay man with HIV on TV to the first self-made female billionaire, reality TV series have consistently broken new ground, as we know many people love to watch TV now a days and getting a good TV and the best reviewed full motion tv wall mount can be great to watch these series.
With “REALITYCON,” MTV continues to expand its fast-growing live events business around the world, which includes the “SnowGlobe Music Festival” and legendary “MTV Spring Break. “REALITYCON” venue and locations to be announced shortly.
